Cultivating Principled Leadership

Established in 2011, Youth Intelligentsia is a dynamic, studentdriven society committed to cultivating principled, purpose-oriented leaders anchored in strong moral values. At its core, YI believes that personal integrity and intellectual rigors are inseparable from meaningful social progress. YI empowers university students to think critically, lead with empathy, and serve their communities with vision and discipline. Through thoughtful dialogue, immersive learning experiences, and hands-on leadership opportunities, it equips the next generation to navigate a rapidly shifting world without losing moral clarity or civic responsibility.

Elevate - Your Growth Circle

Elevate – Your Growth Circle is a Youth Intelligentsia initiative that brings members together for an evening of reflection, learning, discussion and shared experiences. The programme creates a setting where participants can step away from their regular routines, exchange ideas and engage with one another in a more informal environment. A typical Elevate gathering combines thoughtful discussions, group presentations, talks by YI alumni and interactive activities. Participants are encouraged to share their views, learn from the experiences of others and reflect on their own goals and responsibilities. Alumni sessions add another perspective, allowing current members to learn from people who have previously been part of YI. The initiative also includes recreational activities such as cricket, football and teamwork games. These activities give members an opportunity to work together outside a formal setting and strengthen relationships through shared experiences. Through Elevate, we aim to create a space where learning and fellowship go together. It is not structured as a conventional lecture or training session; instead, it brings together conversation, participation, recreation and reflection in a setting where members can learn from one another and build stronger connections within Youth Intelligentsia.

Love & Share

Love & Share is a student-led community initiative by Youth Intelligentsia that focused on simple, practical acts of care. During periods of extreme summer heat, students distributed refreshing drinks to police officers and other government personnel working outdoors, recognising those who continued their duties in difficult weather conditions. The initiative also extended to passers-by and other members of the public, with students offering refreshments to people on the streets. By taking the activity directly into public spaces, the students turned a small gesture into a visible act of consideration for people facing the heat. Planned and carried out by the student society, Love & Share gave students an opportunity to organise a public activity, work together and contribute to the well-being of people around them. Its approach was straightforward: identify an immediate need and respond to it through direct action.

An evening dedicated to gratitude, reflection, and appreciation. 🌙 Grand Iftaar, organized by Youth Intelligentsia, is a gathering to honor the volunteers of Mall of Humanity (MoH) whose dedication, compassion, and collective efforts made this initiative possible. Their commitment to service reflects the true spirit of community, empathy, and responsibility. As we come together in the blessed month of Ramadan, this Iftaar serves as a moment to acknowledge their contributions and celebrate the values of unity and sincere service.

CPR Seminar

The Health Department of Youth Intelligentsia, in collaboration with The Aman Foundation, organised a CPR Seminar at Hamdard University, Karachi, where students from different departments participated and received practical guidance on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The seminar aimed to equip students with basic life-saving skills that can be critical during medical emergencies and to promote greater awareness of emergency response within the community. The initiative contributed to UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, particularly by promoting knowledge and skills that can help protect lives and improve community health preparedness.

Parwaaz

Parwaaz is Youth Intelligentsia’s internship drive, created to help university students move from academic learning towards practical work experience. Through the initiative, we connect students with organisations offering internship opportunities and help them navigate the process of finding a suitable placement. Our work includes engaging companies, developing partnerships, receiving and reviewing student applications, shortlisting candidates and connecting them with relevant internship opportunities. The programme is designed to make the transition from university to the workplace more accessible for students who may have limited professional exposure. Parwaaz also includes opportunities for students to learn directly from professionals. Mentorship and career sessions have covered areas such as career planning, CV preparation, professional development and the transition from campus to the workplace. Through Parwaaz, we aim to bridge a practical gap: helping students turn their academic potential into workplace experience and giving them an early opportunity to understand professional expectations.

Clash of Clusters

Clash of Clusters is a dynamic inter-university tournament that brings together students from our North, South, East, and Central clusters under the banner of Youth Intelligentsia. More than just a competition for a trophy, it serves as a powerful networking platform where students from diverse campuses can step outside their academic routines, connect face-to-face on the turf, and build a stronger community through the universal language of sports. Driven by teamwork, the initiative proudly aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being) by promoting active lifestyles, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaborative networks across educational institutions. United by competition, Clash of Clusters proves that our greatest victories are the friendships we build along the way.

Teknofest Pre-event

Youth Intelligentsia participated as a collaborative partner in the TEKNOFEST pre-event, supporting efforts to introduce students to the opportunities and activities associated with TEKNOFEST Pakistan. Through our student network and university presence, we helped connect students with a platform focused on technology, innovation and practical learning. Our role was to support outreach and student engagement while working alongside the event organisers and other partner organisations. The collaboration gave our students an opportunity to learn about emerging technologies, connect with other young people interested in innovation and become familiar with one of the country’s major technology-focused platforms.

Mall Of Humanity

Mall of Humanity (MOH) is a dignity-based relief model by Youth Intelligentsia that replaces traditional charity with an empowering "Bazaar-like" shopping experience. Instead of receiving standardized handouts, beneficiaries are invited to select high-quality clothing, shoes, and toys according to their own preferences completely free of cost. By focusing on the "power of choice," MOH removes the stigma of aid and ensures that the university's support staff can celebrate Eid with their self-respect fully intact. This student-led initiative has already impacted over 25,000 families, proving that true humanitarianism lies in serving others with honor and empathy.

Spiritual Night

Spiritual Recharge is a Youth Intelligentsia initiative that provides members with an opportunity to step away from their daily routines and spend an evening in reflection, learning and spiritual renewal. The gatherings are organised to help participants prepare themselves mentally and spiritually, particularly in anticipation of Ramadan. The sessions provide a quiet setting for reminders, reflection and discussion, encouraging participants to review their intentions, reflect on their actions and strengthen their connection with Allah. Rather than being a formal programme alone, the gatherings create space for personal contemplation and meaningful interaction among members. The initiative has been conducted at different locations, while retaining the same purpose of bringing members together for spiritual reflection and preparation. Through Spiritual Recharge, we aim to create a setting where our members can pause from their routine, reset their intentions, reflect on their journey and renew their connection with Allah.

Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow

Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow was an educational initiative through which Youth Intelligentsia members worked with children to make learning more engaging and accessible. The initiative focused on spending time with young learners, helping them understand basic concepts and encouraging them to develop an interest in learning. Our members took an active role in teaching and interacting with the children rather than limiting the initiative to the distribution of educational material. The sessions created an opportunity for students from YI to share their knowledge while understanding the needs and learning environment of younger children. The initiative reflected a simple principle that has remained central to our work: learning becomes more meaningful when it is shared with others. By teaching children, our members also developed patience, communication and a stronger sense of responsibility towards their community.

Plantation Drive

Youth Intelligentsia’s Plantation Drive, led by the Social Welfare Department, was organised to contribute towards a greener and healthier Karachi. The initiative encouraged students to take practical action against increasing pollution and the loss of green spaces by planting trees and promoting greater awareness of environmental responsibility. The drive also reflected our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 13: Climate Action. Through the initiative, the Social Welfare Department brought members together for a simple but meaningful effort towards improving the urban environment and promoting social responsibility.

Societies Leadership Consortium

The Societies Leadership Consortium (SLC) is an immersive, experiential leadership retreat designed to awaken the inner leader in today’s youth. Moving beyond traditional classroom theory, SLC embraces a hands-on approach where leadership is not just taught—it is lived, breathed, and experienced. Hosted across diverse and inspiring landscapes—from the scenic heights of Kashmir to the vibrant environments of Lahore and Islamabad—SLC disconnects students from everyday distractions and reconnects them with nature and their own potential. Through mind-bending team olympiads, nature vision quests, leadership hikes, and reflective bonfire sessions, participants are pushed beyond their comfort zones. Guided by visionary mentors and industry experts, the consortium focuses on cultivating resilience, empathy, and strategic thinking. By combining outdoor challenges with profound self-discovery, SLC equips the next generation with the vision, integrity, and 21st-century skills needed to leave a lasting impact on their communities.

Youth Intelligentsia Leadership Conference (YILC)

The Youth Intelligentsia Leadership Conference (YILC) was one of Youth Intelligentsia’s major student-led platforms for bringing young people together around leadership, personal development and social responsibility. Organised by the students of Youth Intelligentsia, the conference created a space where participants could learn from experienced speakers, take part in discussions and activities, and examine the role they could play in their communities. YILC was held in 2016, 2018 and 2019, building on Youth Intelligentsia’s work with students across Karachi. Earlier YILC programming was structured as a two-day youth training conference, with sessions addressing self-awareness, confidence, leadership and practical approaches to personal growth. The conference was organised around a simple idea: leadership begins with understanding oneself and taking responsibility for one's actions. Rather than being limited to formal lectures, YILC combined learning, discussion and interaction to give students an opportunity to question their assumptions, develop practical skills and engage with other young people. The three editions reflect an important period in the development of Youth Intelligentsia.

Model Parliament

Model Parliament is one of Youth Intelligentsia’s initiatives designed to give students practical exposure to parliamentary debate and public affairs. Through this activity, we create a simulated parliamentary setting in which students take on different parliamentary roles, study issues, present arguments and participate in formal proceedings. Participants are expected to research the matters under discussion, understand different positions and put forward their arguments in a structured manner. The format also requires them to listen to opposing views, respond to questions and work within parliamentary rules. This helps students develop public speaking, research, critical thinking and parliamentary debating skills. Our Model Parliament activities have been organised through Youth Intelligentsia and its university chapters over the years, with documented editions including DSU Model Parliament in 2015, KIET Model Parliament in 2019 and Hamdard University Model Parliament 2020. For Youth Intelligentsia, the purpose of Model Parliament is to make learning about governance and public issues more practical. By placing students in the roles of parliamentarians, the initiative allows them to experience the responsibilities of representation, debate and decision-making rather than only learning about these processes in the classroom. Through each edition, our members also take responsibility for planning, coordination and conducting the proceedings. Model Parliament therefore serves both as a learning platform for participants and as an opportunity for our student members to organise and manage a structured parliamentary event.
